Woman Who Spent 9 Months Preparing For Baby Girl Discovers She Was Very Wrong

When Kim Guiley became pregnant with her second child, the California mother had some intuitive feelings about the pregnancy. Guiley had a natural birth at home, and things were going smoothly — until one pivotal moment.

For the entirety of her pregnancy, Guiley was certain she was going to have a little girl. She and her husband, Travis, spent nine months preparing for a girl and picking out names.

In July, during Guiley’s natural birth, the mother could not believe it when she looked at her newborn.

“I just looked between his legs and expected something different. I was in utter shock — I was shocked,” she told Inside Edition. “We had girls’ names; we went round and round about girls’ names.”

Guiley believed she was having a girl — the gaping expression on her face is when she discovered she had a boy. The moment of awe was captured by photographer Susannah Gill, and Guiley later posted it onto her Instagram and described the shocking event in her blog Santa Cruz Family Doula Collective.

“After a lifetime of dreaming about one of each, but months of feeling so strongly that we were having another girl, this is the moment we discovered Theo’s s.x,” she wrote.

Guiley had previously miscarried a little girl the couple named Hazel. After the miscarriage, they wanted to keep the gender a surprise.
