Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door is a famous song by Bob Dylan written for the soundtrack of the movie Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid. Over time, she was recognized as a classic in the work of the musician. Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door gained wide popularity thanks to its cover versions. One of the cover versions of this song, performed by the German band Selig, is the soundtrack to the 1997 film Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door of the same name, named after the Bob Dylan song.

The title of the song was used in the title of the Japanese animated film Cowboy Bebop: The Movie; in addition, Bob Dylan became the prototype when creating the appearance of the main antagonist of the film. It was also used by Hideaki Anno in the subtitle of episode 24 of Evangelion (EPISODE:24′ The Beginning and the End, or “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door”).
