Jane Marchevsky known professionally as Nightbirde, is an American singer-songwriter. After releasing two EPs and two singles, she received a Golden Buzzer at the 2021 America’s Got Talent audition but failed to reach the quarterfinals due to failing health due to cancer. Marchevsky uploaded her first songs and gave her first live performance in 2011 when she was a student at Liberty. In 2012, she released a three-song EP called Lines, on which she sang and played acoustic guitar. In 2013, she released Ocean & Sky, a six-song EP that she funded on Kickstarter.

Remaining in Lynchburg, Virginia, Marchevsky was a popular local performer after graduation. She returned to Ohio in 2014 and, after her marriage, moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2015, where she later resumed performing under her married name, Jane Claudio, with her husband acting as her producer. Jane Marchevsky-Claudio composed the music for the 2015 documentary Leonard Knight: The Man and His Mountain. Nightbirde took her professional stage name from a recurring dream: “It was so poetic that these birds were singing like it was morning and yet there was no sign of it yet, and that’s what I want to embody.” Her first single under this title was “Girl in a Bubble”, released in March 2019. In April 2019, she was the opening act for Tori Kelly at Liberty. In August 2020, after her second cancer diagnosis and remission, she released It’s All Right.

Her style, a mixture of folk and pop, evolved into electropop. In June 2021, she performed as Nightbirde during the 16th season audition of America’s Got Talent. During her interview with the judges after the performance, she made an inspiring statement: “You can’t wait until life gets hard before you decide to be happy.” She subsequently received a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell for her original song “It’s All Right”. In August 2021, before she could compete in the show’s quarterfinal round, Marchevski withdrew from competition due to declining health. Cowell urged her not to return to competition, saying “you [Marchevsky] don’t need the stress right now.”
