Sailor flies 25 hours to surprises his mom for Christmas… ?VIDEO

Clearwater, Florida. Four flights, a two-hour drive, and a month of planning separated Isaac Wells from the rather important moment of December 30th. “I thought, ‘Hey, you’re going to have a present, it’ll be there between twenty-nine and one,'” he said. Isaac joined the Navy three years ago and has only seen his mother Kara Spaulding a few times since. So as a Christmas present, he came to her favorite restaurant in Clearwater, where she thought she was meeting her boss. He told ABC Action News that he partnered with his mom’s employment agency, Aya Healthcare, to help make the surprise.

Moments after arriving at the restaurant, Kara hugged her camo-wrapped “gift.” The audience burst into applause. “I thought he bought me another PlayStation. Because that’s what he did the last time he came home. Because he thinks mom is a gamer,” Spaulding laughed. It’s a surprise that comes during the transition period for both of them. Kara spends long hours in the operating room at Miz Rural Hospital. In October, she moved from Texas to the Tampa Bay area for work.

“This is the longest trip I have ever been away from my family. So it’s a big journey and a big opportunity and I love every minute of it,” she said. Isaac is currently in Japan. “I mean, I’ve always been a sissy,” laughed Wells, “so being away from my family was one of the hardest things for me.” They both say they will get the most out of this visit before Isaac returns to Asia on January 6th. “The next time I get a vacation is probably the next vacation period, which will be around the same time next year,” he said.
