Like its American counterpart, Britain’s Got Talent is not afraid to touch the strings of the soul. On a recent episode, the show held an audition for its fifteenth season. However, one listener was not in line to audition for the show—Nick Edwards’ performance surprised the judges, the audience, and even Edwards himself.

The play began when, unknown to Edwards, his two daughters and mother took the stage at BGT. Edwards sat in the hall and seemed not to know what was going to happen next. “Well, Nick doesn’t know anything about this,” Tracy, Edwards’ mother, began to explain, “and we surprise him because we want him to come and sing, because he sings a beautiful song for girls. Edwards moves from his seat in the crowd to the stage in tears and ends up performing an emotional cover of Ernie Halter’s “Daddy’s Little Girl”. “Wow, we had a whole day planned. It’s a complete shock to me,” Edwards said of being called on stage. When asked why he said he would never do BGT, the singer replied, “I think over the years I have lost a lot of confidence in my singing. I usually do it at home in the shower.”
