The first and so far only season of the Australian reality show The Voice Kids began on June 22, 2014. The show was hosted by Darren McMullen, with The Voice season 1 quarterfinalist Prinnie Stevens serving as a backstage correspondent. The winner received a $50,000 music and education scholarship and a contract with Universal Music. The coaches were former Spice Girls member Mel B, Delta Goodrem and The Madden Brothers. Each team of singers was mentored and developed by their coach. In the second phase, the coaches had three members of their team fight against each other while singing the same song, with the coach choosing which team member to promote. In the third stage, the remaining five artists from each team competed against each other in Sing-offs, with the coach eliminating three artists from their team to form the final two. The remaining six artists then competed against each other in the Grand Final, in which television viewers help determine the winner of The Voice Kids.
