Occasionally, Millie Meunier works with tennis racquet strings on the courts at Floyd Central High School. But when she is not playing those strings, you may find that she is playing the strings of a violin. Or a mandolin. Or a guitar. Or a banjo. “I took piano lessons, but then I played violin, banjo, guitar, mandolin and all that, I didn’t take lessons, so it’s all self-taught,” Meunier said.

Music, like tennis, seems natural to a 15-year-old girl, and she seems to have mastered both rather quickly. Meunier is the Highlanders’ top singles player, selected by all of the states of Indiana in his sophomore year. “I have been playing tennis since I was three years old. And that’s what I’ve been doing ever since,” Meunier said. “When I was very young, I always wanted to be part of a team, and tennis was a sport that I could play at a very young age, so I just started it.”

Meunier enjoys performing live on stage, but when she had free time, she had an idea. “It was during COVID and I was studying at home and there was really nothing else for me to do,” Meunier said. “So I thought, ‘Why not just record some of my songs to see what happens?’ ‘”
