Mother of five amazes with a voice of another era

When Becky O’Brien appeared on the stage of Season 9 of Britain’s Got Talent, she didn’t think that it would change her life. Encouraged by her oldest son, Jack, she decided to give it a try.

As the mother of five told the judges of how she had overcome an abusive relationship, Becky indicated that she would do what she did best. That is, sing “Over the Rainbow,” a song famously performed by Judy Garland.

Becky O’Brien finished her performance, receiving a standing ovation from everyone present at the venue, bringing tears to her eyes. As she gazes around the crowd, she kisses her children and waits for the judges’ determination.

David Walliams remarks that the song was fitting to such a fantastic talent. While Alesha Dixon gushes about Becky, indicating that she was in love with her before she even started singing, and states that her voice is “from a different era.”

Amanda Holden tells her that this is the show where dreams come true, commending her on a fantastic performance. A teary-eyed Simon Cowell indicates that people like her are why they have made this show.

She obtains the four huge yeses from the judges as she thanks each of them with tears in her eyes. In the end, she jokingly asks her kids how she did, to which they respond with a loving embrace.

After Britain’s Got Talent, Becky O’Brien got the opportunity to tour the United Kingdom singing the music of a forgotten era. She also sang in luxury cruise lines around the world as part of her one-woman show.
