The judges of the show “America’s Got Talent” were delighted with the 19-year-old singer Kristen Cruz. Cruz, originally from Irving, Texas, has become widely known on social media for her covers of pop, soul, and worship songs, and has also prepared drinks such as iced coffee and smoothies. With 2 million followers on TikTok, her covers have gained even more million views.

Her rendition of Miley Cyrus’s “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” has 28.9 million views and 6.3 million likes. Cruz also has celebrities Ellen Pompeo, Ariana DeBose and David Arquette among her Instagram followers. Upon taking the AGT stage, Cruz said her dream is “to inspire people, to make them feel like you don’t have to be anything other than yourself.”

While all the judges were certainly rooting for her, it was clear that none of them expected Cruz’s powerful rendition of “I See Red” by Everyone Loves An Outlaw. The entire band, including Simon Cowell, gave Cruz a standing ovation. Cowell even gave the young vocalist a thumbs up when he stood up.
