But even more she was surprised to find that the children are all the same. Roman, Rocco and Rohan were born last year by caesarean section. The news that she was expecting triplets was a big enough shock for any mother-to-be.

However, now, after six weeks in intensive care, little Roman, Rocco and Rohan, living at home, have another surprise for Becky-Jo Allen. After other moms told how similar they were, she sent DNA samples for testing – and now she was told that, despite the incredible 200 million to one odds, the naturally conceived trio were identical.

Luckily for their 23-year-old mother, the 10-month-old triplets’ personalities and evolving personalities mean she can easily tell them apart. “When they were newborns, it was quite difficult to tell which one was which, but I never confused them myself,” she said yesterday. “Everyone has dark moles between their eyebrows, but Roman has them a little darker than the rest,” and Rohan also has a birthmark on his leg.
