Bars and Melody are a British R&B and rap duo consisting of rapper Leondr Devries and singer Charlie Lenehan who appeared on the eighth season of the British talent show in 2014. During the audition, they are automatically sent to the semi-finals of the competition after head judge Simon Cowell pressed the golden buzzer. They ended up finishing third in the series. Their first single since the show “Shining Star” was released on July 30, 2014, accompanied by an acoustic version of their song “Hopeful”. Bars and Melody released their debut studio album 143 on August 21, 2015. It debuted at number four on the official UK charts. Two years later, their EP “Teen Spirit” was released. This was followed by the self-release “Generation Z” and then “Sadboi” in 2020 on Universal Music.
In January 2021, Bars & Melody released the “Carpe Diem” EP, marking a change in their sound and future. They usually refer to their fans as “bambino” and sometimes as “bumfam”. On January 27, they competed in America’s Got Talent: The Champions. On January 29, Bars and Melodiya posted the track listing for their upcoming album Sadboi on Instagram. The album will consist of 12 tracks, including previous singles “Love to See Me Fail”, “Waiting for the Sun”, “Lighthouse” and “Teenage Romance”. It was originally supposed to be released on March 6, however it had to be delayed due to shipping issues with the album. On March 6, their new single “Ain’t Got You” was released.
