You’ve probably seen hundreds of romantic and heartwarming proposals on social media, and each one gets more creative. You always see a girl who is oblivious and about to be surprised by their significant other, which usually ends with the girl saying yes and crying tears of joy. However, unlike most proposals, one that went viral did not follow the standard format. Tim Bobbit got down on one knee to propose to Kylee, his wife’s daughter, so that he could be her new father!
Despite not being blood relatives, Tim and Kylee developed a bond that only a father-daughter relationship can have. Tim was welcomed with open arms by the middle schooler, who looked at him as if he were her birth father. Tim is Kylee’s biggest supporter. Kylee’s cheerleading and dance competitions were always attended by him. Tim has become one of Kylee’s best friends, and they even spend their free time playing video games together. Kylee read a letter at the altar during his wedding to Annie, asking Tim to adopt her.
Tim wasted no time in putting in all of the effort required to grant Kylee’s wish. Tim needed several months to complete the legal paperwork. Tim was eventually able to complete everything, and all that remains is to inform Kylee that she will be Tim’s daughter for the rest of her life. Tim and Annie thought it would be a great idea to surprise Kylee. They staged a phony photoshoot so Tim can propose when Kylee is least expecting it.
Finally, the big moment arrived, and Tim got down on one knee to say his piece before popping the question. “I love going to all of your cheer and dance competitions,” Tim said. “I enjoy watching you develop into the lovely young lady you are. I enjoy being the person you turn to when you are hurt or afraid. I enjoy holding your hand as we walk through the store or when you are afraid to ride the roller coaster.” “But, above all, Kylee,” he continued.
“I look forward to the day I can walk you down the aisle when you married because that’s what fathers do. I can say that because today, in front of our entire family and friends, is the day I get to adopt you.” The middle schooler couldn’t hold back her tears as she hugged her new father. The three went to the courthouse to complete the final details of Kylee’s adoption, such as paperwork. Before the day was done, Tim, Annie, and Kylee exited the courthouse as one legal family.
Tim documented his journey to adopting his middle schooler daughter in a moving video tribute that he shared on YouTube.
