The next batch of auditions for season 5 of American Idol aired Sunday night, and Judge Katy Perry was at a loss for words. It all started when 25-year-old singer Lady K performed in front of Katy and fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Sharing how she felt connected to Lionel because of her roots in Tuskegee, Alabama, Lady K revealed that Katy’s songs have given her strength during difficult times.

When the American Idol contestant announced that she would be performing Kathy’s hit 2012 single “Wide Awake”, the judge was visibly surprised by her choice. But she became even more intrigued when she heard Lady K’s emotional performance, which symbolized her life’s journey.

After that, it took Cathy a few minutes to get herself together. “I just want to say, ‘How dare you,'” she told Lady K. “You sang with such elegance, beauty, grace and filigree. pouring out of you.” Because it just flows.
