John Dowling is a contemporary banjo player from Cornwall, England. His musical talent was appreciated by many. Even former Scottish actor Billy Connolly called Dowling “the most outstanding banjo player I have ever heard”. John Dowling began his musical career at a very young age. In 1986 he was presented with the first violin, and the following year he played his first concert. By 1993 he had received a music scholarship from Truro School in Cornwall to play violin. Next year he will receive his first banjo as a Christmas present.

John Dowling competed in various folklore and bluegrass competitions from 1998 to 2002. He even taught British stand-up comedian Frank Skinner how to play the banjo on TV.
