While it goes without saying, reality shows are popular all over the world. In America, we tend to think that this whole trend started with American Idol, which is more or less true. However, Idol has also been a worldwide phenomenon that has spawned numerous other TV shows. While the basic idea of talented singers competing against each other has persisted through all of these various shows, over the years things have gotten weirder, more concrete and interesting.
While the show also features singing competitions, it is run differently from many other shows. Instead of seeing the judges right away, each of the contestants conducts a “blind audition” while the judges turn away.
The performers sing, and if the judges like what they hear, they can press a button to turn around and try to get that performer on their team. Each season has one winning performer and one vocal coach. Apart from this interesting format, the show also has different versions in every country in the world, as well as sub-categories within those versions.
