A few years later, the show declared the “laughing quads” video to be the “Funniest Video of All Time”, earning the Matthias family $250,000 and a place in home video history. The girls—Grace, Emily, Mary Claire, and Anna—were 6 when their video won this top award, and in the following years, the Matthias family made numerous television and talk show appearances, including a stop on The Oprah Winfrey Show. ” in 2008. Today the quads are 16 years old and the family says “Oprah: where are they now?” that video has incredible staying power.
“People still love this video,” Allison’s mom says. “I think this is one of those videos that you can’t help laughing at,” dad Steve adds. “There is something about the syncopation when they stop and start laughing. It’s just an infectious laugh.” The girls may be identical quadruplets, but as they’ve grown their interests have pulled them apart. “We are similar and different from each other only in what interests us,” says Grace. “For example, Mary Claire and Emily… they enjoy doing digital art on their computer. And Anna really likes the orchestra. And I love taking pictures.”
