Is there anything more special than becoming a grandparent? Nothing comes to my mind.
There’s something about watching your children become parents, especially for the first time, that’s incredibly rewarding.
Ever since Kathie Lee Gifford, the former Today co-host, learned she was going to be a grandma, she has been beaming with pride. But noting that the cause for celebration isn’t about her, rather “celebrating with my son and his beautiful wife and their love for one another. This is a blessing from God in His way and in His timing.”
On Thursday, Gifford shared a picture of her grandson, Frank, now five months old, on Twitter.
“My precious little bubbela wants to wish you all a blessed Thursday,” she wrote. “He says he hopes you are happy and healthy!”
Frank “Frankie” Michael Gifford was born May 31 to Gifford’s son Cody and his wife Erika Gifford.
Erika shared the news on Instagram calling it “the best day of our lives.”
“At a whopping 8lbs 8oz three weeks early, Frank Michael Gifford, ‘Frankie’ has changed our lives forever. We have not stopped bursting with so much love and gratitude for God’s most precious gift.”
The couple, who began dating in 2013 and wed in 2020, named their first child after Cody’s father, Frank Gifford the Hall of Fame football legend.
“Frank ‘Frankie’ after C’s pops & Michael after my uncle who passed away last year at 61 whose name also means ‘gift of god,’” Erika wrote.
“Two strong men — gone but never forgotten. ”
Kathie Lee also celebrated the birth of her first grandchild by sharing an adorable photo of him on Twitter.
“What greater miracle is there than the miracle of life? I cannot contain my joy. Thank you God for the gift of little Frank Michael Gifford.”
Shortly after Frank was born she stopped by the Today Show and spoke with her former colleagues and revealed she had other ideas when it came to what she’d like her grandchildren to call her.
Kathie Lee said she asked a friend whose mother is Israeli what they call grandmothers.
“I asked her, I said what’s a good word for a Jewish grandmother?” Kathie Lee said at the time. “And she goes, ‘Bubbalah. It’s Bubbie.’”
“And it means ‘dearest one,’ like ‘cherished one.’”
It was an easy decision for Kathie Lee since “a little kid only goes, ‘Buh, buh, buh, buh, buh,’ anyway.”
“I think it’s going to be easy. Bubbie.”
How precious! There’s few things in this world that are better than being a grandparent!
Please share if you love being a grandparent.
