When it comes to bringing your child into the kitchen, what your child does and how they help you will really depend on their experience, interest and readiness, not their age. While I have detailed age group assignments, this is just a guideline and your child may progress through the stages faster or slower than intended.
Regardless of age, safety and hygiene should be of paramount importance. Education on food hygiene (washing hands before eating or after touching raw food, etc.) should be introduced from the outset and continually reviewed.
Finally, patience is your friend! Regardless of your child’s age, try not to let mess, spills, or mistakes upset you. Remember to build your child’s confidence, not undermine it.
