The Voice Kids is a German reality talent show created by John de Mol and a younger version of The Voice of Germany. The show, based on the original The Voice of the Children of Holland, was designed for children between the ages of seven and fifteen. It began airing on Saturday 1 April 5, 2013. The show consists of five different stages: producers’ audition, blind audition, battle rounds, performance, and finale. There have been nine winners to date: Michel Birche, Danyom Mesmer, Noa-Levi Kort, Lukas Janisch, Sophie Thomas, Anisa Selik, Mimi and Josephine Lisa-Marie Ramm and Egon Werler.
From the very first season Thor Scholermann was the host. A second main host was introduced in 2015: Chantal Janzen from 2015 to 2016, Debbie Schippers from 2017 to 2018 and Melissa Khalaj from 2019. Aline von Drateln was backstage presenter in 2013 and was replaced by Nela Lee in 2014. Coaches for the upcoming season will be Lena Meyer-Landrut, Alvaro Soler, Vincent Weiss and the duo of Michi Beck and Smudo. Other coaches from previous seasons include Stephanie Kloss, Henning Weland, Tim Bendzko, Johannes Strait., Mark Forster, Sasha Schmitz, duo Nena and Larisa Kerner, Max Giesinger, duo The BossHoss and from the group Deine Freunde, Lukas Nimscheck & Flo Sump. In April 2020, the show was renewed for a ninth season, which began airing on February 27, 2021.
